Soul Satisfying Baby Blessings
Your long awaited baby is finally born! You would like to have a welcoming ceremony or baby blessing, but ... in these first few weeks and months at home with your new baby you might be a little too tired or overwhelmed to create and carry out such a ceremony.
Yeshi would be honored to assist in the creation of a ceremony that is specially designed for you and your family.
This ceremony could include elements of a traditional naming ceremony, or traditional baptism, vows and intentions of parents and grandparents, and honoring of and gratitude for special people in the baby's life.
Yeshi will incorporate poetry, songs, readings, blessings and music of your choosing. Or you can choose selections from a menu she has put together. She will also include meaningful activities for siblings, family members and friends.
WHAT THE PARENTS OF THE BABY SAY...Thank you so much Yeshi for helping us welcome Kara into our family in such a gentle, sweet and fun way. I loved how relaxed everybody was able to be, especially me,- somehow it was the most relaxed I felt since we came home from the hospital - and how peaceful Kara felt.
Janet, mother of 4 week old Kara.
I didn’t want to have a bris, but I did want to have a naming ceremony for Benjamin. I really didn’t know how to bring in some elements of Jewish tradition that were important to me and my family. I appreciated how Yeshi gave us information and choices and then we could pick which aspects of the tradition felt right for us at this time. At first my parents were upset that we weren’t doing everything completely according to the book but after Benjamin’s ceremony they said they felt very included and that their values were respected.. That was so important to me.
Nathaniel, father of 6 week old Benjamim
The blessing welcoming ceremony we had for Amelia was just the right combination of joy and seriousness. Best of all was that Yeshi had planned it with us in such a way that I felt it was the true expression of our family and yet, because she presided I didn’t have to worry about how things would go. And they went so well! My 4 year and her cousin loved their special part of putting rose petals around Amelia, and even though I sobbed through it, I loved getting to read the poem I wrote about Amelia’s birth.
Wendy, mother of 2 month old Amelia
