The Mindful RN in Labor & Delivery - Muir Beach CA
This workshop introduces Mindfulness as a practical tool for L&D RNs who intend to be more effective providers of evidence-based, mother-friendly care. The scientific basis of both Mindfulness and mother-friendly care is presented. After practicing Mindfulness techniques, as well as exploring possibilities for providing evidence-based mother-friendly care in their own L&D settings, the RNs will each decide on an action to integrate Mindfulness into their own direct patient care in order to improve birth outcomes.
Mindfulness is the awareness that arises through paying attention, intentionally, to one's own moment-to-moment experience in an open, caring and non-judgmental way. Cultivating this awareness enables RNs to be fully present as they take care of other human beings and to focus on the tasks at hand. By cultivating Mindfulness RNs strengthen their capacity to choose to respond to the daily challenges and stressful situations they face with wisdom and compassion.
